Hurry Up!

Well, I scarcely know what to write. Our life has been consumed with the anticipation of baby as of late and since s/he isn’t here yet (two days overdue and counting) there isn’t much to report. This last month has been quite difficult for me as my emotional stability and physical discomfort have been growing at inverse proportions. I know that I really don’t have anything to complain about as many women have it much worse, but given this is my first pregnancy and I’m not other women – I’m going to complain regardless. Poor Eric has to hear my lamenting daily, but endures it with patient restraint. He has been absolutely wonderful throughout this pregnancy, but particularly so in the last few weeks. Foot rubs have increased, he cleans the house and grocery shops without being asked…cooks dinner…what more could I ask for in a husband?
I’ve created a new poll for the reader’s enjoyment. I’ve already voted and chosen the last option.

An Arrival of a Different Kind

For several weeks I’ve been keeping my eye on the nest that mama robin created on the wreath on the front porch. Several eggs were laid and today one of them hatched. I expect the others to hatch soon and from what I read online they’ll stay in the nest for about two weeks. I’m so impressed with how perfect the nest is…I don’t even see pieces of the eggshell.

Our new arrival should be here soon. My due date is about a week and a half away, July 7th. I was checked at my doctor’s appointment on Thursday and they say I’m making progress, but obviously aren’t able to predict when baby will actually come. I’m praying for a June baby; Mom has requested June 30th and I’d be happy to oblige.

Nursery

I felt this news warrented a double post - the nursery is done! We finished the last decorative item tonight. The glider that Mom and Missy got me and the shadow box added the finishing touches. The shadow box was inspired by one from Pottery Barn that was ridiculously overpriced. So I had Eric make one instead. We filled it with Crayola markers thanks to an ingenious design idea from Leanne. It feels great to have the nursery done and I can breathe easier knowing that we have everything prepared that we can.
I uploaded images to HGTV's Rate My Space, so go rate it!

Showered with Love

Last weekend I was so blessed to have a wonderful shower put on by Kerri, Shana, and Elizabeth. I think the delicious food was my favorite part, but the beautiful decor/theme is a close second. As you can see in the photos it was a cool, beachy theme that blended seamlessly with the color and style of the house. I seriously think Kerri needs to go into party planning.

The event was just perfect...filled with family, friends, food, and chatter. Thank you to all who attended!!

Deck is Done!

The deck is done! After several incidents with Menards that I'm still too miffed about to go into detail we got all the materials and Matt came back yesterday and finished the project today. It's all very exciting and done just in time for my shower. Bring on the nice weather!

Question

So. Hairspray is a product I’ve only recently embraced. In my search for the perfect side swept bangs I’ve looked to several products including mouse, pomade, and finally settled on good old fashioned hairspray. In the past I’ve used Dove but was disappointed by its hold and the hard hair it left me with. After discussing it with my hairdresser, she said spending more $$ on hairspray can make a difference.
An article in Marie Clare recommended Umberto for its affordability and hold. I was thrilled to see it stocked at Target with a price of $9.00. After spending about $3.00 on Dove it was a considerable jump, but not as much as $20.00 for products like Bed Head. I must say the hairspray itself has impressed me; however, I have had several “incidents” with the spray nozzle. One nozzle broke entirely and would only spit out a gas type substance instead of product. My current bottle sprays directly up instead of out meaning the top of my head gets product (and the ceiling) but basically nothing else.
I’m about ready to break up with Umberto, but my question is, am I going to have the same luck with another brand? Is this the plight of all hairspray users or have I discovered that what makes Umberto affordable is the crappy nozzle? Also, if I leave Umberto…where I should I go? Without Maria Clare to guide me I’m lost

Spring Has Sprung

It finally feels like spring has sprung. We planted shrubs two summers ago but this is the first time they've bloomed and I'm just thrilled. The weigelas in particular are amazing; the entire bush is covered in blooms. The dwarf lilacs have also bloomed and when we open the windows in the baby's room we can smell them. I can't believe in about five weeks baby will be able to smell them...
