Microsoft User in Training
So, I don't know what makes us nerdier - the fact that we had a Windows 7 Launch Party, or the fact that we took pictures of our three month old at said party. :) MS sent Eric's work a launch party kit complete with streamers, balloons, Microsoft Trivia, and random Microsoft propaganda. The party was pretty tame - just the three of us...and I think the setup took longer than the actual party...but it was a party nevertheless. If Sydney ends up being a Linux user Eric is going to loose it.

Life has been pretty busy as of late. I went back to work a couple weeks ago and it seems like time is passing more quickly than when I was staying home...I think not getting as much time with Syd makes it seem that way. She is doing very well at our daycare provider and I've stopped crying at work which is a huge plus. :) Right now I'm working at home on Fridays so that has really helped the transition.

Reasons Why I Love Today
Today is already a good day and it's only 11:28am. Here's why:
- Sydney slept 11 hours last night and that means I got to sleep in until 8:00am. She then proceeded to go down for a nap at 9:00am and is still sleeping giving me lots of time to be lazy in my pajamas.
- Eric scrubbed the kitchen and entry floor without me asking - on his hands and knees no less. So now the house smells like Murphy's Oil and I love that smell.
- It's Richard's birthday today. He is 35 and a very, very good boy. So cute and cuddly and is doing so well with the baby.
- My mom and dad are coming this evening to have dinner with us to celebrate my birthday. How lucky am I that my parents would drive and hour and a half each way just to spend a few hours with their daughter...although something tells me seeing their granddaughter may have something to do with it.
- I'm going to a movie with Shana this afternoon and I'm really excited about that.
- And five years ago today Eric proposed...so glad I said yes. :)

Landscaping
Our final (and in reality only) landscaping project of the summer is now complete. Our goal was to surround Sydney's tree with an organic shaped bed...it was originally going to be a kidney bean shape but it morphed into more of a footprint. I had several shrubs from the front yard that I planted in a poor location (not enough sunlight) that I wanted to transplant into the bed. Life with a newborn has not afforded us a lot of opportunity for household projects, but yesterday Sydney had a trial run with our childcare provider so we used our "free time" to finish the project.
I found a super cool planting guide off the Better Homes and Gardens website that we used as inspiration. The shrubs still look a little ragamuffin but I'm hoping they fill in next year now that they are getting the proper amount of sunlight.
The new bed also helps to camoflauge a control box for the sprinkler system. I'm thinking of putting a lawn decoration on it. I've had my eye on this Gnome-be-Gone sculpture for a while - I think it's kind of overpriced, but since it's handmade and so unique I might splurge.

Born to be a Techie
Working in IT for many years has made both Eric and I quite technologically inclined. I assumed Sydney would someday inherit our nerdyness - but I guess I didn't think it would start so soon. :)
This morning Sydney cuddled with Eric and was quite fascinated with his smartphone. She'll be texting in no time...
