8/11/2008Back to Normal

It's been a week since I was discharged and I'm thrilled to say I'm feeling pretty much 100%. Last week I dealt with some side effects of the narcotics I was given through the IV but by Friday things were feeling much better. We camped near Rochester with Jake and Mis and their fam and mom and dad over the weekend and other than being a bit tired I had no health issues...now, memory issues....that's another thing. As we were setting up our tent Eric turned to me and said, "Where is the suitcase?" To which I matter of factly replied, "Sitting on the bed back in Eau Claire."

Anyway, I digress. So today I saw a kidney specialist who took some blood to run some tests and also wants me to save my urine for 24 hours so they can run some tests on that...yeah, that'll be fun. I think I'll wait 'til the weekend for that one since I doubt my co-workers would appreciate a giant container of urine in the fridge.

8/3/2008Kidney Stone

Well, perhaps I jinxed myself in my last entry when I said nothing was new with us. This morning I started experiencing severe pain in my lower back combined with vomiting and a constant need to pee (hope this isn't too much information)...after a trip to urgent care, some x-rays, and a cat scan they determined I'm passing a kidney stone and admitted me.

So I'm currently sitting in my hospital bed, doped up on some very nice pain killers waiting for this thing to move on through. I can't even begin to tell you how wonderful Eric has been through all this. He's stayed by my side the entire time only leaving for brief trips home to let the dog out. He's home now walking Richard but asked the nurse to bring in a cot so he can spend the night here with me. I've always known he is a blessing from God, but going through something like this with just confirms even more in my heart that he is the only man for me. I thank God for you Eric.

8/2/2008Summertime

Man, July is a total blur. Whenever August hits I always panic a bit because it means summer is almost over. We've been quite busy this summer, having almost every weekend booked with one thing or another. This weekend has been somewhat low key...we had a really good time on the lake today with Tessa and Ryan--it was beautiful out and a perfect day to be on the water.

Tomorrow we're meeting Eric's folks in Wausau and getting a bookcase that his dad stripped for me. I think it will be a nice addition to our basement. Last weekend we traded my beloved Civic for a CR-V and while I'm still adjusting to the larger vehicle, it'll really come in handy tomorrow when we need the hauling capacity. Other than the CR-V, not much else is new around here.
